The traffic police have started a special drive to penalise the traffic rules’ violators in the district.
According to the traffic police, around 1,900 violators were penalised for different kinds of violations on road in Jammu district alone during the last two days, while over Rs 9 lakh revenue was generated.
“Earlier, our focus was on regulation of traffic. Now, with the fall in traffic congestion, we have launched a joint drive to check violations. In the last two days, the traffic police have issued around 1,900 challans for different violations in Jammu district. Different agencies, including police, district administration and civic body are assisting us not only in checking traffic violations, but also removing encroachments along the roads,†Joginder Singh, SSP, Traffic, Jammu, told The Tribune.
