The body of a 39-year-old missing Italian trekker was discovered on Sunday, while an injured mountaineer was rescued in a separate operation by the Indian Air Force (IAF) in Ladakh. A joint team of police, the Union Territory Disaster Response Force (UTDRF), and the Army's 'Forever in operation' division recovered Davide Macella's body at Charchar La Pass along the Leh-Zangla track, according to Kargil SSP Anayat Ali Chowdhary.
Macella was reported missing while on a hiking excursion from Leh to Zangla in Himachal Pradesh on July 23, after being last seen in Hankar. According to Chowdhary, a joint rescue squad was deployed from Kargil, and the body of the foreigner was recovered.
