June, 2025: During their honeymoon in Meghalaya, Sonam Raghuvanshi confessed to plotting Raja's murder with the assistance of Kushwaha and three contract killers. The case has shocked the nation. She admitted paying Rs. 50,000 to Raj Kushwaha to track their movements and arrange accomplices. Raja was killed near Wei Sawdong Falls, and Sonam later reappeared in Uttar Pradesh after a brief disappearance, while Raj maintains his innocence.

According to reports, Raja Raghuvanshi's wife Sonam Raghuvanshi has admitted to killing him, marking a significant development in the case. Sonam admitted her involvement in the crime, according to the Meghalaya police, when she was cross-examined by Raj Kushwaha, another accused person. According to reports, she admitted to being a part of the plot to kill Raja Raghuwanshi. As per reports, Sonam's photo, along with his lover Raj Kushwaha, has also surfaced.

Sonam’s return to Indore, disappearance and reappearance

Raja was believed to have been killed on either May 23 or 24. The accused, according to the police, returned to Indore on May 25. According to Madhya Pradesh police, Sonam returned to Indore after her husband’s murder. She met Raj Kushwaha in a rented room and then planned her next steps before resurfacing in Uttar Pradesh.

Tracking through location-sharing apps

Police said Sonam used different mobile apps to stay in direct and private contact with Raj during the trip. She reportedly shared her live location, which helped the accused follow her and her husband.

Even though Raj insists that he was in Indore at the time, authorities are still trying to determine whether he was present at the scene of the crime or was involved in it. Investigators are now working to match his statements with those of the other accused and gather evidence to confirm each person's role.

On May 23, Sonam went missing in Meghalaya near Wei Sawdong Falls, where she and Raja were on their honeymoon. On June 2, Raja’s body was found in a gorge near the falls. Sonam was found in a dazed state at a dhaba in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, on June 9.

"We have information that Sonam reached Indore between May 25 and May 27 by train and stayed in a rented room in Dewas Gate," said Indore additional DCP (Crime Branch) Rajesh Dandotiya. "Her co-accused, Raj Kushwaha, met her there. He later arranged a taxi to UP."
