July 18, 2025: In some areas of the UT, the Meteorological Department of Jammu and Kashmir has issued a warning about heavy rain, flash floods, and landslides. "From July 16-17, it will be generally cloudy with intermittent spells of light to moderate rain/thundershower at many places with intense showers at few places with heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places of J&K," read an advisory from the MeT center in Srinagar. It further read, “From July 18-20 there will be a spell of light to moderate rain/thundershower at scattered to fairly widespread places”. The advisory stated that from July 21-23 it will be generally cloudy with intermittent spells of light to moderate rain/thundershower at many places with intense showers at few places with heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places of J&K.
The MeT while issuing a warning stated, “Flash floods at few vulnerable places with landslide/mudslide and shooting stones”.
It further read that there will be rise in water level in rivers/streams/local nullahs and water logging in few low-lying areas. Many parts of J&K have received rainfall during the past two days bringing much needed relief from humid weather conditions.
In the meantime, the MeT department of Ladakh issued an advisory advising the general public, tourists, and everyone else involved to remain cautious and alert during heavy rains and to avoid vulnerable areas.
