Aug 4, 2025: On Sunday, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller stated that India's purchase of Russian oil is unacceptable, claiming that Russia financed the Ukrainian crisis. "It is not acceptable that India continue to finance this war by purchasing oil from Russia," Miller stated in an interview with Fox News.

People will be shocked to learn that India is basically tied with China in purchasing Russian oil. "That's a remarkable fact," he stated. Miller stated that peace options for the region are on the table and that US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have a "tremendous" relationship. "President Trump has always had a tremendous relationship with India and the Prime Minister.

However, we must confront the issue of war funding head-on. Therefore, "for President Trump, all options are on the table: to deal with the ongoing war in Ukraine diplomatically, financially, and in other ways," he stated. Miller claimed that because India imposes significant tariffs on US goods, it does not accept them. "India doesn't accept our products, they impose massive tariffs on us. Additionally, we are aware of their frequent violations of immigration laws. It is very harmful to American workers," he said.

On August 1, India defended its sovereign right to pursue an energy policy in accordance with its national interest, despite Trump's claim that India might stop purchasing oil from Russia.
