Aug 7, 2025: In the midst of controversy over the revision of the Bihar electoral rolls, the Manipur Appropriation Bill, 2025, was passed by the Lok Sabha on Thursday. Soon after the passing of the Bill by voice vote, the House proceedings were adjourned for the day.
For the services of the fiscal years 2025-26, the Bill authorizes the payment and appropriation of certain sums from and to the State of Manipur's Consolidated Fund.
Members of the opposition did not give in, and as a result, the bill was passed without any debate. Nirmala Sitharaman, Finance Minister, criticized the opposition for disrupting the meeting and stated that while they talk about Manipur, they do not want money to go to the state, which is governed by the President.
