The Aligarh police today lodged FIRs against 600 unidentified students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) for holding up traffic on the Aligarh-Moradabad highway on Monday.

The students had held up traffic on the highway to put pressure on the AMU administration to release a student handed over to the police on Republic Day after a large number of students heckled Vice Chancellor Dr Tariq Mansoor, waving black flags and shouting “AMU VC go back”.

The CO, Civil Lines, the students who had blocked the highway would be identified on the basis of CCTV footage near the blockade site.
