Jammu, May 24, 2025: Due to concerns that "anti-national elements" may use it to disrupt public order, the government of Jammu and Kashmir has temporarily suspended mobile internet connection in portions of Bhaderwah in the Doda district until May 27, according to officials.
On the suggestion of IGP (Jammu Zone) Bhim Sen Tuti, the home department ordered the suspension of mobile internet service on 37 towers, including 19 owned by Reliance Jio and 18 owned by Airtel, they claimed.
The services have been suspended with effect from 8 p.m. on May 22 to 8 p.m. on May 27, according to the directive issued by Principal Secretary (Home), Chandraker Bharti.
As the authorized person under Rule 3 of the Telecommunications (Temporary Suspension of Services) Rules, 2024, the Jammu Zone IGP has instructed internet and telecom service providers to temporarily halt mobile data services in the Bhaderwah region.
The letter/order in question stated, among other things, that anti-national elements and miscreants are likely to abuse mobile data services, including 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, and public wi-fi, which could lead to a decline in public order.
It further stated that maintaining public order, the Union Territory's security, and the nation's sovereignty and integrity all required the interim suspension.
