June 11, 2025: Eyewitnesses reported that on Tuesday night, a passenger slapped an arrested suspect in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case at the Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport. A Meghalaya Police team and the four accused were making their way into the airport at the time of the incident. A passenger waiting with his luggage suddenly slapped one of the suspects when he saw them walking by, presumably to express his rage over the murder that has made national headlines. As the accused were wearing masks, it could not be immediately known who among them was slapped. A video of the incident went viral.
Raj Kushwah, Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi were taken to Shillong by a 12-member team of Meghalaya Police, according to Indore's Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotia, who said the court had granted them transit custody. After Raghuvanshi was killed on May 23 in Meghalaya, his wife, prime accused Sonam, apparently visited Indore, said an official.
"We have received information that Sonam came to Indore from Meghalaya, and stayed in a rented flat in Dewas Naka area between May 25 and 27. However, Meghalaya Police will be able to give detailed information about this," he said.
The Meghalaya Police team, meanwhile, visited accused Vishal Chauhan's house here.
According to information provided by Chauhan, Poonamchandra Yadav, Indore's Assistant Commissioner of Police, the pants and shirts he was wearing at the time of Raghuvanshi's murder were taken from his house. He stated, "The clothes will be sent to the forensic science laboratory by the Meghalaya Police to determine if there are blood stains on them." The Meghalaya Police say that Raja Raghuvanshi, a transport businessman who was on his honeymoon in the northeastern state, was killed by his wife Sonam, who was 25. Sonam had called three hired killers there with the help of her alleged lover Raj Kushwah (20).
