June 17, 2025: The entire Amarnath Yatra route has been designated a "No Flying Zone" by the Home Department of J&K in advance of its start next month.
From July 1 through August 10, the instructions will be in effect. In light of the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra, which is scheduled to take place from July 3 to August 9, the Home Department issued a notification stating that various security measures are being taken to ensure the yatra runs smoothly and peacefully.
It stated that all parties involved have discussed the current security situation in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir and have proposed additional logistical provisions. Additionally, the Ministry of Home Affairs has advised that the entire Amarnath Yatra route may be designated as a "No Flying Zone."
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who is in charge of the Home Department, has ordered the action. However, it stated that these restrictions will not apply to medical evacuation, disaster management, or security force surveillance. It stated, "A detailed SOP for such exceptions will be issued later."
The shorter route from Baltal in the Ganderbal district and the longer route from Pahalgam in the Anantnag district of South Kashmir serve as the starting points for the annual Amarnath Yatra. In light of the terror attack in Pahalgam in April, which resulted in the deaths of 26 people, authorities are implementing additional measures.
