July 18, 2025: Sidhu Moosewala will "return" to the stage in 2026 with an AI-powered world tour titled "Signed to God," three years after his tragic death. The tour promises fans a lifelike concert experience through the use of holograms and immersive technology, but it raises serious ethical concerns. Artist Moosewala was known for his raw political voice and cultural pride. He was fiercely independent. Does an AI avatar turn him into a stylized product or can it truly capture his spirit? Is this a tribute or a manufactured afterlife, without his consent? We must ask ourselves whether we are honoring their legacy or monetizing their memory as technology revives more deceased artists. We shouldn't just bring someone back digitally just because we can. "Legends never die," Moosewala once said. However, legends should rest, not be given a virtual encore that they never approved of. A surreal appearance by a hologram of Tupac Shakur at Coachella in 2012 made headlines. Michael Jackson followed suit and became the digital star of Cirque du Soleil's The Immortal World Tour, which made over $370 million and was one of the highest-grossing tours ever. Additionally, during a performance at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards, Jackson was "resurrected" as a hologram.
