July 19, 2025: On Saturday, Justice Vibhu Bakhru took the oath of office as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court. During a ceremony that took place at the Raj Bhavan's glass house in this location, Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot administered the oath of office to the new CJ.

Justice Bakhru, 59, was a judge at the Delhi High Court before this. The recommendations that the Supreme Court collegium made to the central government were the basis for his elevation as Chief Justice of Karnataka HC.

The event was attended by several senior state government officials, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, Chairman of the Karnataka Legislative Council Basavaraj Horatian.
