July 19, 2025: After a viral video from a Coldplay concert showed Astronomer CEO Andy Byron on a "kiss cam" embracing Astronomer's chief of human resources (HR), Kristin Cabot, an internal investigation is underway. Astronomer issued a statement on LinkedIn that read, "The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter, and we will have additional details to share very shortly." It said, "Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability," highlighting the company's dedication to its values and leadership standards. Astronomer also clarified that the incident did not involve any other employees.
The video does not feature any other employees, and Alyssa Stoddard was not present at the event. There is no statement from Andy Byron, and any reports that claim otherwise are false. Pete DeJoy, the company's co-founder and chief product officer, has assumed the role of interim CEO.
The decision comes as a result of the viral video, in which both of them tried to hide their faces when they realized they were being filmed on a big screen, which only fueled online speculation.
