As the milestone was achieved, J&K lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha visited Baltal base camp in Ganderbal to review the arrangements for the ongoing pilgrimage.
As the number of pilgrims participating in the annual Amarnath Yatra reached 3 lakh on Sunday, just 18 days after it began, the Pahalgam attack was unable to deter them. J&K lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha went to Baltal base camp in Ganderbal to look over the plans for the ongoing pilgrimage after the milestone was reached. “By the grace of Amarnath Ji, the holy pilgrimage has surpassed the 3 lakh mark today. The experience of this sacred journey is incredibly enriching. May Baba’s blessings bring peace, strength and fulfilment to all.
On X, Sinha yelled, "Har Har Mahadev! In a press conference on July 3, the LG stated that only one third of the pilgrims who had registered for this year's Amarnath Yatra had confirmed their trip to the cave shrine prior to the Pahalgam terror attack. In the wake of the attack on April 22, overall pilgrim registration had decreased by more than 10% from the previous year. Prior to the terror attack that killed 26 people, most of whom were tourists, at the picturesque Baisaran meadows, Sinha had pointed out that approximately 2,36,000 pilgrims had registered for the yatra. That number has already been reached, and even though the yatra is scheduled to end on August 9, there are still 20 days to go, people are still coming.
The yatra had seen a record-breaking 5,12,000 participants in the previous year. Sinha talked to pilgrims to find out what they thought about important facilities. He stated, "Departments are working diligently to ensure the pilgrims have a comfortable darshan." The Amarnath cave shrine in the Himalayas is visited by hundreds of thousands of Hindu devotees from all over the country each year, traversing treacherous mountain paths, glaciers, and ice-fed streams.
Pahalgam is one of the Amarnath yatra's two primary base camps. In just 18 days, the number of people has reached 3 lakh. This year, highly sensitive arrangements have been made to ensure a secure yatra environment, including track, food, and lodging. Shahid Choudhary, the yatra's nodal officer and administrative secretary to the government, stated, "We are getting good feedback from yatris."
