July 28, 2025: India received a message of unity and support from the people of Balochistan, who view Pakistan as a sponsor of terrorism and claim that they are victims of Islamabad's assaults against them for their demand for a free state. This came amid the debate that is expected to take place in Parliament on Monday regarding Operation Sindoor. In their letter, the people of Balochistan express their hope that the Indian Parliament will hear their call for their liberation and become aware of their situation. In a letter written to Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla by Baloch representative Mir Yar Baloch, he stated, "We, the sixty million Baloch people of the Republic of Balochistan, extend our heartfelt message to our 1.4 billion Indian brothers and sisters. On the occasion of today’s parliamentary debate on Operation Sindoor, we express our profound admiration for the unwavering unity of the Indian people, the resolute and principled stance of the Government of India against Pakistan's state-sponsored terrorism, and the visionary decision by the opposition to stand in solidarity with the government and armed forces at this critical juncture."
Lauding India's 'Operation Sindoor' launched post Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir's picturesque meadow on April 22 that left 26 people dead, Baloch wrote, "We commend the extraordinary courage and professionalism of the Indian Armed Forces, the responsible and patriotic role of the Indian media, and the nation’s collective success in confronting and overcoming Pakistan’s military and psychological aggression."
He also mentioned that the Baloch people honour the enduring bonds of friendship and trust that have united the people of India and Balochistan for millennia.
"...an invaluable historical relationship that deserves recognition and reflection in the Indian Parliament. Baloch wrote, "This sentiment echoes the aspirations and convictions of the Indian populace and is not only a testament to our shared past." He also said post Operation Sindoor Pakistan has unleashed the renewed "wave of brutality" on the people of Balochistan, which he said is due to the region's people choosing to stand on India's side aftermath of the Pahalgam attack.
"In the aftermath of the temporary pause in Operation Sindoor, Pakistan’s occupying forces have unleashed a renewed wave of brutality upon the people of Balochistan. These actions are a direct reprisal for the principled stance of the Baloch people, who have chosen to stand in solidarity with the citizens of India," said Baloch.
Saying Baloch people have consistently looked towards India as a beacon of hope, and their unwavering support for our sovereignty, Baloch mentioned, "Our letter is a powerful reminder of India's role in standing up for oppressed people and resisting tyranny in our neighborhood. The Baloch people have always looked to India as a source of hope. Their unwavering support for our sovereignty, especially during events like Operation Sindoor, requires your leadership to respond with principle." He stated that despite having declared independence on August 11, 1947, Balochistan remained a sovereign nation until it was forcibly annexed by Pakistan on March 27, 1948. "Since then, the Baloch population has endured unimaginable suffering, mass abductions, extrajudicial killings, aerial bombardments, and systemic cultural repression. Over 40,000 Baloch people are languishing in Pakistan's army detention centers and torture chambers, and thousands have been killed in military operations, according to Baloch human rights organizations," he stated. He said despite this, the Baloch "resistance" remains grounded in secular, democratic, and nationalist principles. He stated, "They seek not only freedom from oppression but also a future of peace, equality, and cooperation with democratic neighbors, especially India." Additionally, he stated that a "free Balochistan" would provide India with strategic leverage because it would end Pakistan's access to the Arabian Sea via Gwadar and disrupt the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), posing a direct threat to India's security and sovereignty. He also stated that free Balochistan would provide India direct trade routes to Central Asia, the Middle East, and Europe through an independent corridor.
Also, he mentioned a cultural bond between India and Balochistan stating that the sacred Hinglaj Mata Mandir, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, is located in Balochistan. "The Baloch people have protected it despite Pakistani attempts to radicalize the region, showcasing their commitment to pluralism and cultural respect,"he said. He added that the Baloch oppose the same terrorist groups that target India, meaning it would be productive for counter terrorism.
Urging Lok Sabha speaker Birla to raise Balochistan's voice inside the Parliament, Baloch stated can help awaken national and international consciousness. "The Baloch people have demonstrated immense courage in their fight against colonial rule of Pakistan. He stated, "It is time India responded with open support, not only out of strategic necessity but also out of moral duty." "Let us stand with the Baloch people and their dream of freedom, dignity, and justice," he said, noting that India has always stood for "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," which means "the world is one family."
