Aug 12, 2025: According to officials, the State Investigation Agency conducted raids on Tuesday at a number of locations in central Kashmir as part of its investigation into the 35-year-old murder of a Kashmiri Pandit woman.

According to the officials, the agency carried out the raids in connection with the murder of Sarla Bhat at the homes of several individuals who had previously been associated with the banned Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF). Bhat, who went missing from her hostel at the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences at Soura in April 1990, was found dead in downtown Srinagar.

Peer Noorul Haq Shah, alias Air Marshal, a former leader of the JKLF, was one of the people whose homes were searched by the agency, which recently took over the case's investigation.

The officials stated that additional information regarding the raids was pending.
