Aug 12, 2025: On Tuesday, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stated that citizens should endeavor to elevate the national flag and contribute to its dignity. When addressing a Tiranga rally in this location, Abdullah stated, "It is not necessary that we need a large number of people to do something. All of us can do our bit to uphold the respect and dignity of the national flag."
The chief minister said that the national flag should not only be flown at official events. He stated, "We should try to take the national flag to greater heights and follow in the footsteps of those who have made supreme sacrifices for upholding the respect of this flag." He referred to the flag's respect. When people want to do the right thing, Abdullah advised them not to be discouraged by the fact that they are alone. “Few years back, the national flag could be hoisted only on government buildings and at designated official functions.
However, in order to obtain permission to fly the national flag on his own property, one man knocked on the doors of the courts. We can now hang the tricolor on every house because it forced the government to change the law,” he added.
