July 22, 2025: Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh landed in Amritsar to shoot for the next schedule of his much-anticipated film ‘Border 2’, based on the 1971 war. Dosanjh shared some behind-the-scene clicks from a rural location on his Instagram, announcing his arrival in Punjab.
Diljit was seen with his long-term manager Sonali Singh and the film crew, including director Anurag Singh, who were filming at an undisclosed location near Tarn Taran. Diljit is said to play Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, the only officer in the Indian Air Force to receive the Param Vir Chakra from the IAF. Especially for his heroic defense of the Srinagar Air Base during the 1971 Indo-Pak War, Sekhon is well-known for his bravery. Diljit also posted a picture of Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon to his Instagram stories on July 17, when the Indian Air Force celebrated Sekhon's 80th birthday. Dosanjh was seen arriving at the Amritsar airport in clothes that reminded people of another of his now-famous characters, Jaswant Singh Khalra. Diljit portraying Khalra in his biopic Punjab 95 wears a check shirt and pants, which is a straightforward representation of Khalra's everyday attire. The film is yet to release in India and is embroiled in a controversy with the Censor Board of India.
Before his arrival in Punjab, Dosanjh had rubbished rumours of his ouster from ‘Border 2’ over the ‘Sardarji 3’ controversy and shared a behind-the-scenes video from the set, confirming his continued involvement with the film. The video also included other cast members like Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty and Mona Singh, showcasing the fun atmosphere on the set.
