Aug 5, 2025: Omar Abdullah, the Chief Minister of J&K, issued a statement in the evening expressing his optimism for J&K during this monsoon session of Parliament in response to rumors that persisted throughout the day on Monday regarding the restoration of J&K's statehood on August 5.
Omar wrote, "I've heard every possible permutation and combination about what to expect in J&K tomorrow, so let me stick my neck out and say nothing will happen tomorrow—fortunately nothing bad will happen but unfortunately nothing positive will happen either," in a post on X.
I still have hope that this monsoon session of Parliament will bring good news for J&K, but not tomorrow. No, I have not met with anyone in Delhi to discuss anything. This is merely an instinct. Let's see what happens tomorrow.
