Aug 11, 2025: As the Swachh Jammu Run 2025 was put on today by the Jammu Municipal Corporation, a sense of patriotism and civic duty arose. Following the completion of the Amarnath Yatra, the event was a crucial component of a series of activities to celebrate the 79th Independence Day and promote cleanliness. At Bahu Plaza, Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner for Jammu, signaled the start of the run. On the dais, he was accompanied by Jammu Municipal Corporation Commissioner Devansh Yadav and senior police and administrative officials. The run was divided into two categories: 10 km and 5 km. Both of these distances follow scenic but important routes through the city, including the Railway Station, Panama Chowk, University Road, Gujjar Nagar, Hari Singh Park, and Jewel Chowk before returning to Bahu Plaza. Over 2,000 people from all walks of life, including children, senior citizens, fitness enthusiasts, and enthusiastic youth joined together under the slogan "Clean Jammu, Healthy Jammu" for the event, which saw an overwhelming response. The fact that the "Fit India Challenge" also included the Swachh Jammu run highlights the dual focus on environmental consciousness and public health. The Swachh Jammu Run, according to Ramesh Kumar, was more than just a sporting event; it was also a powerful social message. "This run demonstrates our shared commitment to constructing a Jammu that is cleaner, healthier, and more vibrant. Additionally, it is connected to the "Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan," which encourages all citizens to proudly fly the National Flag and fosters a strong sense of patriotism. Cleanliness and respect for our environment are integral to our national pride.” he added.
In his address to the participants, Devansh Yadav praised their enthusiasm and emphasized the significance of community-led cleanliness drives. "We must also strive for freedom from pollution and unsanitary conditions in the spirit of Independence Day. Clean surroundings are essential for the health and future of our younger generations. He insisted that "everyone of us must contribute to keeping Jammu green, clean, and inspiring for years to come."
